HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-03-16; City Council; Resolution 6811.% 4 4 # 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 I1 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 2% 23 24 25 26 27 28 0 A RES RESOLUTION NO. 6811 LUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL F TH CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, IN SUPPORT OF PROPOSITION 9 TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PERIPHERAL CANAL IN THE ELECTION OF JUNE 1982, WHEREAS, the State Water Project will be the largest single source of water supply for Southern California after the Central Arizona Project is completed in 1985 and that state takes delivery of the Colorado River water which Southern California is presently using, but to which Arizona is entitled; and WHEREAS, Proposition 9 on the June 1982 ballot combines construction of the Peripheral Canal and additional water development, conservation , reclamation and ground water management programs in concert with the environmental guarantees contained in Assembly Constitutional Amendment 90; and WHEREAS, the Peripheral Canal has been found to be the most economical, efficient and environmentally acceptable method of moving water across the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta; and WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad is entirely dependent upon the importation of water from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California; NOM, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Carlsbad does express its unqualified support of Proposition 9 at the June 8, 1982 election. xx xx xx xx xx xx d 1 1 1, 1: 11 I( 1' 2( 21 2: 24 25 26 27 28 PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the 16th day of March , 1982, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: NOES: None ABSENT: None Council Wers Packard, Casler, hear, Lewis and Kulchin ATTEST: l2fkt4A ?U& 4LETHA L.
