RESOLUTION NO. 7645
RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF SENIOR ACTION
COALITION 1984-85 LEGISLATIVE AGENDA
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of California has
made various augmentations to the California Department of
Aging Budget for fiscal year 1984-85; and
WHEREAS these various Budget augmentations and Bills
are vital to the maintenance and improvement of life sustaining
services to California's 3.4 million elderly; and
WHEREAS, the number of senior citizens in California is
steadily increasing both in total numbers and in percentage of
the general population: and
WHEREAS, meeting the most basic needs for food, shelter,
social and day health care, specialized transportation, legal
services, information and referral and other services has been
demonstrated to be cost effective: and
WHEREAS, providing these services for California's elderly
reduces isolation, sustains and improves health and happiness,
and allows maximum freedom, independence, and the free
exercise of individual initiative; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of senior citizens
in Carlsbad, CAlifornia and throughout the State, and equally so
of society everywhere, to support life maintaining and enhancing
services for the elderly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Carlsbad hereby urges the Honorable George
Deukmejian, Governor of the State of California, to approve
the Senior Action Coalition 1984-85 Legislative Agenda.
