RESOLUTION NO. 9110
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE DEFENSE OF
THE 1990-91 AMERICA'S CUP REGATTA IN SAN DIEGO
WHEREAS, The America's Cup Regatta is the world's most prestigious
yachting event; and
WHEREAS, San Diego is now the proud home of The America's Cup;
and
WHEREAS, the San Diego Yacht Club will defend The America's Cup in
1990-91; and
WHEREAS, San Diego has excellent sea and sailing conditions to host
the next America's Cup Regatta; and
WHEREAS, San Diego's outstanding waterfront and visitor facilities can
accommodate The America's Cup races; and
WHEREAS, the San Diego region has a distinguished history and long-
standing tradition of yachting and sailing; and
WHEREAS, hosting The America's Cup races in San Diego will bring
benefits and recognition to the entire region;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad as follows :
1. That the City hereby supports the defense of The
America's Cup in San Diego, and encourages all
citizens to express their support for hosting same
in San Diego.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Council, held on the gth day of jUnP , 1987
