WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends and the City Council concurs 6 7 education requirements for Recreation Specialist I and Recreation SUI be amended. 8 9 10 11 12 13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. This position classification is entry level in the Professional Recreation seric EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Provide supervision and directly participate in specialized recreation pro( activities. Provide skilled recreation leadership or instruction at recreation facilit Maintain inventory control, activity and progress records. Assume responsi bi 1 ity for the scheduled use and maintenance of one or I recreation facilities. Devel op and organize speci a1 i zed recreation programs. Respond to citizen complaints and requests for information. Assist in coordinating recreation activities with other City departments divisions, and with outside agencies. Assist in supervising, training and evaluating assigned staff. Make public presentations and prepare reports. QUALIFICATIONS Know1 edse of Philosophy, principles and practices of public recreation programs. First aid methods, practices and safety precautions related to any recreati program. Basic supervisory practices and skills. Ability to Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Organize, supervise, coordinate, implement and evaluate recreation progran a *_ 0 e RECREATION SPECIALIST, Continued Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contac in the course of work. Work weekends, holidays and evenings as assigned. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT Possession of a valid Class I11 driver's license. Must meet State of California Tuberculosis test requirements. . * e Attachment B Resolution No. 88- RECREATION SUPERVISOR I DEFINITION Under general supervision, to perform responsible recreation work in a var; of recreational program activities of the City; to conduct, organize and as! in supervising recreation programs; and to do related work as assigned. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is the entry class in the Recreation Supervisor series. Incumbents assi! to this class have lead supervisory responsibility over a 1 imited number recreation program activities which involve full-time and part-time st; Incumbents shall be expected to organize and carry out recreation pro! assignments under limited supervision. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Provide lead supervision and directly participate in a variety of City\ recreation program activities. Provide skilled recreation leadership or instruction at recreation facilit Maintain activity and progress records; maintain inventory control. Assume primary responsi bil ity for the maintenance and use of one or I recreation facilities. Assist in developing and organizing a variety of recreation programs for a1 1 groups. Respond to citizen complaints and requests for information. Assist in coordinating recreation activities with other City departments divisions, and with outside agencies. Assist in supervising, training and evaluating assigned staff. QUALIFICATIONS Know1 edqe of Philosophy, principles and practices of public recreation programs. Major sports, games and other recreational activities suitable for child adolescents, adults and senior citizens. RECREATION SUPERVISOR I, Continued Abilitv to: Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Supervise and coordinate recreation programs. Supervise and train individuals and groups in recreational activities. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contac in the course of work. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that could lib provide the required know1 edge and abi 1 i ties is qual i fying. Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited collegc university with major course work in recreation, physical education re1 ated f i el d .
