EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Participate in a variety of planning programs involving current and advan planning, coastal zone environmental analysis, code enforcement and other spec project areas. Meets with developers, architects, engineers and others involved in privat sponsored residential, commercial and industrial projects; reviews and evalua project plans for conformance to established land use regulations, codes policies. Prepares ordinances, resolutions and staff reports to the City Council, Pl ann Commission and others regarding departmental planning activities. Participate in the conduct of complex studies relating to the social, econol and physical development of the community. Coordinate and participate in the preparation of environmental reviews and updating of environmental requirements. May serve as staff to the P1 anning Commission and other commissions committees as assigned. Make authoritative interpretations of applicable regulations and policies. Respond to difficult citizen complaints and requests for information. A master’s degree in plannin public administration, business administration or related field is desirabl e 0 Attachmen Resolution No. 2 ASSISTANT PLANNING DIRECTOR DEFINITION Under general direction of the Planning Director, to assume responsibilities the City's current and advanced planning functions; to participate in all ma land use planning programs and projects; to provide highly responsi professional and technical staff assistance to the Planning Commission and City Council and other commissions and committees; and to do re1 ated work assigned. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Direct and manage the daily activities of the Planning Department. Direct and participate in the development and implementation of goa objectives, policies and priorities. Plan, direct, supervise, coordinate and participate in current, advanced, l building inspections and redevelopment programs, and environmental plann programs and other speci a1 pl anni ng act i vi ties i nvol vi ng redevel opment , regi 01 land use planning, transportation, annexations and related subjects.
