HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-04-18; City Council; Resolution 89-118- I 1 2 3 4 5 0 0 RESOLUTION NO. 89-118 ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN OF THE CITY TO REVISE THE CLASSIFICATION OF PERMIT CLERK. ~ WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends and the City Council concurs, tl classification of Permit Clerk should be revised in the City’s Classif. P1 an. 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Car California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City Manager to the classification of Permit Clerk as described in Attachment A, attached and made a part thereof. RAUTENKRANZ, city CI er4 26 :I (SEAL) 27 1 28 I 0 0 1 DEFINITION Attachment A Resolution No. 8 3 e PERMIT CLERK Under general supervision, to perform responsible clerical work in connectio with the processing of permits and applications; and to do related work a required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Receives heavy volume of telephone calls from residents, developers, etc. Receives, logs, and routes citizen complaints. Receives, transcribes, and routes routine inspection requests. Receives and processes formal requests for final inspection and occupanc: re1 eases. Coordinates activation of utilities with power company. Type forms, correspondence, and prepared reports. Maintain and use a variety of filing systems. Receives and transmits message by two-way radio, telephone, and pager systems, Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail. May require some computer data entry work re1 ated to project/permi t tracki nl system. QUALIFICATIONS Know1 edqe of: Business office procedures , methods, and equipment . English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Report and correspondence formats. Ability to: Perform a variety of clerical functions. Organize files and data. Communicate effectively with the general public. Type at a speed of 40 words per minute from clear copy. L e 0 i PERMIT CLERK, Continued Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the cour! of work. Be ab1 e to work under pressure and with dead1 ines. Experience and Education Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that could like1 provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way t obtain the knowledge and abilities would be one year of responsible clerical ar typing experience which requires a high degree of public contact.
