WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends and the City Council concurs, t classification and salary range of Arts Manager should be amended. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cal Cal i forni a, as foll ows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City Manager to the classification of Arts Manager as described in Attachment A, attached and made a part thereof. 3. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City Manager t the salary range of Arts Manager from $1,415-$1,806 bi-weekly to $1,579 bi-weekly as described in Attachment B, attached hereto and made a part t PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regul ar Meeting of the City COUI the City of Carlsbad on the 18th day of April , 1989, by the fo vote, to wit: AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Pettine, Mamaux and Larson NOES : None ABSENT: None ATTEST: ALETHA L. RAUTENKRANZ, City Clekk (SEAL) I .I 0 0 4 Attachment * Resol uti on - ARTS MANAGER DEFINITION Under general direction, to perform professional, technical and administrativ work in directing a Citywide arts program; and to do related work as assigned EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate the Citywide arts program. Prepare and administer the budget for the arts program. Prepares, tracks, and reviews applications for funding assistance with othei governmental agencies and private foundations. Prepare complete reports and make presentations on the formulation of pol icy an1 procedure, staffing, and organizational requirements. Coordinates arts programming with other City departments and outside agencies Responds to citizen complaints and requests for information. Provide technical and staff assistance to the Arts Commission. Plan and implement informational programs to stimulate and maintain interest il the arts. Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff. QUALIFICATIONS Know1 edqe of: Principles of organization, administration, budgeting, and personnel management Visual and performing arts. Principles and practices of arts administration including promoting, gran securi ng , fund rai sers , program pl anni ng , imp1 ementat i on, and eval uat i on. General arts 1 egi sl at ion and programs. Abil i tv to: Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in tht course of work. Experience and Education Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that could likel~ provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way tt obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Three years of experience in the development and admini stratiol of arts programs with at least one year of supervising experience. Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college 0' university with major work in arts administration, fine arts, publil administration, or related field.
