PARK DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR DEFINITION Under general direction, to perform park development planning and 1 andscape architectural work; to prepare plans and designs; to supervise park construction; and to do re1 ated work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Review all aspects of park plans for conformance to City policies and progran desi res. Develop park landscape, grading and site improvement plans. Develop street tree, equestrian trail, and slope planting standards and insurc compliance with established City requirements. Update street tree master plan list. Schedule design and construction work related to park projects, administel contracts and coordinate project development team including outside consultants Prepare plans and re1 ated cost estimates for 1 andscaping and park improvements Conduct inspections on park landscaping, irrigation systems, and street medians Supervise and direct the performance of outside consultants and contractors. Prepare Environmental Impact Statements, Conditional Use Permits and othel planning documents for park projects. Make presentations of such to the Plannin! Commission and City Council. Assist Director on issues of park acquisition and in developing the Capita' Improvement Budget. Review and inspect a1 1 1 andscape and irrigation plans for private devel opmen. within the City and insure that projects are completed to City standards. Make written and oral reports (including preparation of Agenda Bills) to thc Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, and City Council regardinc landscape architecture and park planning issues. Monitor construction schedule and cost controls in park and related projects. Participate on City committees and advisory groups. Prepare documents such as General Plan conformance statements, maps, an1 illustrations that accompany park project recommendations. 8- 3 e 0 PARK DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR, Continued Consult with City departments, contract architects, and engineers to integrate present plans with long range plans. Provide input and cooperate in the writing and maintenance of the Parks an( Recreation Master Plan Component. Maintain records of landscape plans submi tted by developers and prepare report: for Parks and Recreation Commission and City Manager. QUALIFICATIONS Know1 edqe of: Principles and practices of park planning, acquisition, design, and development Application of plans, natural features, and artifacts in a variety of landscapin! situations. Park irrigation systems. Relationships among federal, state, and local planning programs. Abil i tv to: Prepare sketches, plans, and cost estimates of 1 andscapi ng and re1 ated groul improvements. Collect, analyze and interpret data pertaining to park development ani maintenance. Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with City officials an' employees, the general public, and representatives of other agencies. ExDeri ence and Education Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that could likel, provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way tc obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: ExDerience: Two years professional or paraprofessional park developmeni planning or landscape architecture or related planning experience. Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college 01 university with major work in park management, landscape architecture, urbal planning, public administration or a related field.
