RESOLUTION NO. 89-435
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING FEES FOR GENERATORS OF BIOHAZARDOUS
MEDICAL WASTE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad supports effor
to prevent the improper storage and disposal of medical waste to ensur
the health and safety of all Carl sbad residents and visi tors; and
WHEREAS? the County of San Diego adopted an ordinance regulating
storage and disposal of medical waste for businesses that generate les
than 220 pounds of biohazardous waste on March 14, 1989 and amended it
July 5, 1989; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad adopted by
reference the San Diego County ordinance regulating the storage and
disposal of medical waste on June 67 1989 and is now incorporated into
Carlsbad Municipal Code; and
~ WHEREAS? the County of San Diego amended an ordinance relating t

~ health and sanitation fees which established a $105 fee for all busine
~ establishments generating less than 220 pounds per month of biohazard0

waste on July 5, 1989; and
WHEREAS? the City Council of the City of Carl sbad can adopt by
Resolution the fee schedule set by the County of San Diego for the sto
~ and disposal of biohazardous medical waste.

NOW, THEREFORE? BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City o
Carl sbad, Cal i forni a as foll ows:
1. That the foregoing recitation is true and correct.
2. The hazardous material fee is $105 for business establ i shmen
in Carlsbad generating less than 220 pounds per month of biohazardous
medical waste.
