91-109 RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA IN SUPPORT OF THE SAN DIEGO
PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN A JOINT
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WfSTE GRANT APPLICATION
COUNTY HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DROP-OFF
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad recognizes that it is in the public interest to
enact and implement an Integrated Waste Management Plan to address the state's
diminishing landfill space and the potential adverse environmental impacts from
landfilling; and
WHEREAS, funds are available, pursuant to the provisions of Public
Resources Code Sections 46400 and 46401 from the Solid Waste Managemen
Funds, for grants to local governments to establish and implement waste diversio1
and separation programs to prevent disposal of hazardous waste includinj
household hazardous waste, in solid waste landfills;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council, of the City o
Carlsbad supports the submittal of an application by the County of San Diego or
behalf of the City of Carlsbad to the California Integrated Waste Management Boar(
for a Household Hazardous Waste Grant. The mayor of the City of Carlsbad i
hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Carlsba
all necessary applications, contracts, agreements and amendments in support of th
County of San Diego to secure grant funds and to implement and carry out th
purposes specified in the application.
