WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad finds that providing park recreation services is of vital environmental, social and economic interest to the citi of our community; and WHEREAS, a coalition of community and conservation groups, business and I: historic preservation and other organizations have undertaken a volunteer, comm based effort to place a park, recreation and wildlife General Obligation Bond Act 01 June 1994 ballot; and WHEREAS, the bond act will provide needed facilities for the enhancement o community, including urban forestry, park and recreation facilities, historic preservE open space, habitat lands, and a wide variety of other programs; and i WHEREAS, CALPAW '94 includes funding for at-risk youth facilities, in ord reduce crime, drug activity, and gang violence in our community; and WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad will receive an estimated $4,755,00( ~ development of park and recreation facilities and open spacelhabitat land acquisitil ~ CALPAW '94 is approved by the voters; and WHEREAS, the following specific projects benefiting our community are inch in CALPAW '94: 1) Carrillo Ranch restorationldevelopment; 2) acquisition preservation of natural lands to support multiple species habitat programs; and I1 I1 /I I 28 I1 - 1 0 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the C 2 WHEREAS, thousands of jobs will be created with passage of this bond; 3 Carlsbad, California endorses the CALPAW '94 initiative, and also endorses the SF 4 5 6 7 8 vote to wit: proposition that contains the measure as it will appear on the June 1994 ballot.
