RESOLUTION NO. 96 -331
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO
APPROPRIATE AN ADDITIONAL $282,000 FROM THE CITY’S
TRANSNET LOCAL FUND BALANCE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A
SHORE PROTECTION WALL ALONG CARLSBAD BOULEVARD
ADJACENT TO THE AGUA HEDIONDA LAGOON.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California has determ
necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to construct a shore protection wall
Carlsbad Boulevard adjacent to the Agua Hedionda Lagoon; and
WHEREAS, this portion of Carfsbad Boulevard is at risk of being damaged as a rt
intense storm driven waves generated off the Pacific Ocean; and
WHEREAS, the City has entered into cost sharing agreements with both the Ut
Corps of Engineer and the California Department of Boating and Waterways which stipula
maximum amount of funding allowed for these agencies; and
WHEREAS, in order to complete this project, it is necessary to appropriate an ad1
$282,000 from the City’s TransNet Local Fund balance to the shore protection wall
account.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ca
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council authorizes the Finance Director to appropriate $282,00
the City’s TransNet Local Fund balance for the construction of a shore protection wall
Carlsbad Boulevard adjacent to the Agua Hedionda Lagoon.

3. That the Finance Director is authorized to transfer $282,000 from the City's Trc
Local Fund balance to the project account for the Shore Protection Wall.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City (
held on the 1st day of October , 1996 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Nygaard, Kulchin, Hall and Finnila
NOES: None
