RESOLUTION NO. 97-620
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH
EARTH TECH, INC., FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES TO PREPARE
PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND COST ESTIMATES FOR THE
SOUTH CARLSBAD VILLAGE STORM DRAIN PROJECT, PROJECT
NO. 3528 AND PHASES 9 & 10 OF THE VISTNCARLSBAD
INTERCEPTOR SEWER PROJECT. PROJECT NO. 3182
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determine
necessary and in the public interest to approve and accept an agreement with Earth Tech,
8 for engineering services to prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates for the SI

Interceptor Sewer, Project No. 3182; and lo
Carlsbad Village Storm Drain, Project No. 3528 and Phases 9 & 10 of the VistalCark
11 WHEREAS, the Engineering Department, in cooperation with the Carlsbad Munic
12 Water District, requested proposals to provide engineering services to prepare PI;
13 specifications and cost estimates for the South Carlsbad Village Storm Drain and Phases 9 t
of the VistaICarlsbad Interceptor Sewer and received proposals from Dudek & Associz
Malcolm Pirnie, Inc., Daniel Boyle Engineering and Earth Tech, Inc., and after review of

15 11 proposals, staff selected Earth Tech, Inc., as the best qualified firm based on their experie
16 and expertise on similar types of projects; and
17 WHEREAS, funds in the amount of $940,000 were previously appropriated for the Sc
Carlsbad Village Storm Drain and the project cost estimated for the storm drain portion of

funds available for this portion of the project; and 2o
engineering services is $262,140 and $26,473 for contingencies; therefore, there are suffic

21 WHEREAS, funds in the amount of $3.9 million were previously appropriated for

Vista/Carlsbad Interceptor Sewer and the project cost estimated for the interceptor sewer por
of the engineering services is $153,756 and $15,527 for contingencies; therefore, there
24 sufficient funds available for this portion of the project; and
WHEREAS, Carlsbad is responsible for $57,351 of the cost of the VistaICarls 25
Interceptor Sewer, and will be reimbursed $96,405 by the City of Vista; and

1 WHEREAS, the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the proposed agreemenl

engineering services with Earth Tech, Inc., to provide plans, specifications and cost estimate:
the South Carlsbad Village Storm Drain and the VistalCarlsbad Interceptor Sewer project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsl 4
California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the agreement with Earth Tech, Inc., for engineering services to pro
plans, specifications and cost estimates, a copy of which is attached as Exhibit 4, is he'

10 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City COI

held on the 7th day of October , 1997 by the following vote, to wit:
