HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-04-21; City Council; Resolution 98-121=+ 4 1 2 3 4 5 0 0 RESOLUTION NO. 98-1 2 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AUTHORlZlNG CONSTRUCTION OF THE SOUTHEAST QUADRANT PEDESTRIAN CURB RAMP IMPROVEMENTS. THE EXECUTION OF CONTRACT NO. 3523-2 FOR THE 6 WHEREAS, plans have been reviewed by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad for the 7 construction of the Southeast Quadrant Pedestrian Curb Ramp Improvements, Project No. 3523-2; and 8 WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad for the construction of said 9 project; and 10 I' Portillo Concrete in the amount of $49,750; and WHEREAS, the low bid received to construct said project was submitted by 12 WHEREAS, the low and second lowest bid received to construct said project submitted 13 by Portillo Concrete and Fox Construction are responsive; and 14 WHEREAS, the total estimated costs for said project if performed by Portilio Concrete are 15 $62,250 and if performed by Fox Construction are $77,250; and WHEREAS, Council has previously appropriated $250,000 in the 1997-98 ADA Pedestrian Curb Ramp Program for design, construction, administration, and inspection of said 16 l7 I/ Project. 18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, 19 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 20 California, as follows: 21 2. That the low bid of $49,750 submitted by Portillo Concrete for Project No. 3523-2 22 for the construction of the Southeast Quadrant Pedestrian Curb Ramp Improvements is accepted and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract therefor. 23 3. That the bid of $64,750 by Fox Construction for Project No. 3523-2 for the 24 construction of the Southeast Quadrant Pedestrian Curb Ramp Improvements is accepted 25 this resolution or such additional days that the City Manager, at his sole discretion, may allow 27 bonds and proof of insurance to the City Purchasing Officer within twenty (20) days of adoption 0' 26 contingent on the failure of Portillo Concrete to provide executed contract documents, suitable 28 The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract therefor under said contingency.
