A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A
DONATION FROM THE JAMES S. COPLEY
FOUNDATION

5 11 WHEREAS, the Gallery, which will be located in the new Carlsbad Library will addrc

the City Council's educational and cultural goals as well as implement the goals of the Genc
8 ll WHEREAS, a Gallery Committee was established to develop operational and fur

raising plans, to program the new Gallery and to oversee the working of the Gallery; and
WHEREAS, the Gallery Committee and Arts Office intend to supplement city fund;
for the Gallery with funding from outside sources; individual, corporate and foundati
contributions; and
WHEREAS, The James S. Copley Foundation has donated $I ,000 towards the Galle
which will be used for operating and exhibition expenses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
follows:
I. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the donation of $1,000 from the James S. Copley Foundation is hereby
accepted and deposited into the Arts Office Gallery donations account and
appropriated to use for Gallery operating and exhibition expenses.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, at a regular meeting of the City Council of thc
City of Carlsbad, California, held on the ISt day of September , 1998, by the following VOI
