1 RESOLUTION NO. 99-14
I I A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE 1-5 CORRIDOR LANDSCAPE MASTER
I PLAN AS A SET OF GUIDELINES FOR THE FUTURE ENHANCEMENT
I OF THE FREEWAY CORRIDOR THROUGH THE CITY OF CARLSBAD.
5 WHEREAS, in 1996, City staff was authorized to prepare a landscaping concept
6 the Interstate 5 corridor throughout the Carlsbad city limits, a distance of approximately 6.1
7 and
8 WHEREAS, the purpose of this effort was to establish a landscape enhan
program along the entire 1-5 corridor in order to succinctly tie each interchange and the st
freeway in-between in a cohesive, theme based approach theme which would be desi
such a way as to emphasize the coastal nature and historical aspects of the City; and

11 WHEREAS, in order to aid in the development of the Landscape Master Plan, the
l2 appointed an ad-hoc committee, entitled the 1-5 Corridor Landscape Advisory Commi
l3 assist in the development of the theme based approach. The Committee consists of one
14 member, two Planning Commissioners, two Arts Commissioners, two members of the bl
15 community and two citizens at large; and
16 WHEREAS, the City Council adopts the 1-5 Corridor Landscape Master Plan as i
17 guidelines which will be used as a tool for future enhancement of the freeway corridor tho
City of Carlsbad; and 18
WHEREAS, the Planning Director issued a Negative Declaration on January 26, 1 19
this project.
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cz
21 California, as follows:
22 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
23 2. That the 1-5 Corridor Landscape Master Plan is hereby adopted as a
24 guidelines to assist the City of Carlsbad with future enhancement of the freeway corridor 1
25 the City of Carlsbad.

3. That the services of the 1-5 Corridor Landscape Advisory Ad-hoc Commi
no longer need and the Committee members are thanked for their efforts in the develor
the 1-5 Corridor Landscape Master Plan.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City
held on the 5 th day of January , 1999 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Nygaard, Finnila, Hall and Kulchin
NOES: Council Member Lewis
