2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
3 CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A
DONATION FROM DR. EUGENE SMOLEY

WHEREAS, the Gallery, which will be located in the new Carlsbad Library will address
the City Council’s educational and cultural goals as well as implement the goals of the General ’
6
7 Plan; and
8 WHEREAS, a Gallery Committee was, established to develop operational and fund-
9 raising plans, to program the new Gallery and to oversee the working of the Gallery; and
10 WHEREAS, the Gallery Committee and Arts Office intend to supplement city funding
11 for the Gallery with funding from outside sources; individual, corporate and foundation.

13 WHEREAS, Mr. Eugene Smoley has donated $1,000 towards the Gallery which will be-..
14 used for operating and exhibition expenses.
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as

That the above recitations are true and correct.
That the donation of $1,000 from Eugene Smoley is hereby accepted and
deposited into the Arts Office Gallery donations account and appropriated to use
for Gallery operating and exhibition expenses.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED; at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 19th’ day of January , 1999, by the following vote,
