RESOLUTION NO. 99-104
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE AND
INSTALLATION OF FOUR CALTRANS SIGNS TO MARK
HISTORIC ROUTE 101 THROUGH CARLSBAD.
WHEREAS, U.S. Highway Route 101 has been officially recognized by
the California State Legislature and by other cities in the state for its historical significance; an
WHEREAS, U.S. Highway Route 101 has been determined to have followed, since
1925, most of what is today Carlsbad Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission has identified appropriate sites for
such signs and has funds available to purchase and install four of these signs; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the desirability of providing
these marker signs to designate the path of historic U.S. Highway Route 101
through Carlsbad.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California,
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council authorizes and directs staff to purchase and install four
Caltrans designed and approved signs marking historic Route I01 through Carlsabad at sites
recommended by the Historic Preservation Commission and the City Traffic Engineer. The co!
of the project will not exceed $500 and will be funded from the Historic Preservation budget.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of tk
City of Carlsbad, California, at a regular meeting held on the 2Fd day of March
1999, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Nyg Kulchin & Hal
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Member Finnil
