HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-06-01; City Council; Resolution 99-193I < 1 0 e RESOLUTION NO. 99-19-3 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 3 AGREEMENT FOR THE DARE PROGRAM BETWEEN THE CITY CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, RATlFlYlNG THE COST SHARING 4 OF CARLSBAD AND CARLSBAD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT 5 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, finds that it would 6 Abuse Resistance Education Program; and 7 mutually beneficial for the City and the Carlsbad Unified School District to share costs of the DI 8 WHEREAS, the Cost Sharing Agreement has been acted upon by the parties although g previously approved by the City Council; 10 1. That the cost sharing agreement for the DARE Program, attached hereto as Exhibi 12 follows: 11 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad does hereby resolve 13 between the City of Carlsbad and Carlsbad Unified School District is hen retroactively approved. 14 15 2. COST SHARING AGREEMENT This agreement is made and entered into at Carlsbad, California, this J nt day of ~une, 192 by the City of Carlsbad, a municipal corporation hereinafter called “City,” and Carlsbad Unified School District, a 6ed school district, hereafter called “School District.” ” WHEREAS, the City and the School District find that it would be mutually beneficial to share costs of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, herekdter called D.A.R.E. The parties agree as follows: The City agrees to provide the School District with an elementary and junior high school D.A.R.E. program as described in Exhibits “A” and “B” and :the school District agrees to pay the City .SO% towards the cost of the program. See Exhibit “C” for details. .. .. MODIFICATIONS AND SCHEDULING , .1 .. The description of the program in Exhibits “A” and “B” is a general guideline only and minor modifkations may be made by the City. Scheduling of the programs is at the discretion of the City. CONDITIONS This agreement is based on the following assumptions: 1) Carlsbad Unified School District agrees to provide 50% toward the cost of the elementary and junior high school D.A.R.E. program as outlined in Exhibit T” attached. 2) School enrollment at School District is approximately the same in the 1998/ 1999 school year as in the 1997/ 1998 school year. If either of the two assumptions prove to be false, this agreement is VOID. TERM OF AGREEMENT The term of this agreement extends from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999. 0 0' METHOD AND TIME OF PAYMENT The School District agrees to pay the City in the following manner: One-half of the amount due will be paid no later than December 31, 1998. The remaining one-halfwill be paid no later than June 30, 1999. A semester course will be given to students during the eighth grade. Students in other grades will receive an ahbrmiated program.
