A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO
AN AGREEMENT FOR GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES DURING THE
ROUGH GRADING FOR FARADAY AVENUE GRADING AND
DRAINAGE PROJECT, PROJECT NO. 3593.
5 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determit
6 it necessary and in the public interest to approve and accept an agreement with Leighton E
Associates, Inc., for geotechnical services during the rough grading of the Faraday Aver
Grading and Drainage Project; and

WHEREAS, Leighton and Associates, Inc., is the geotechnical engineer of record for
Faraday Avenue Grading and Drainage project and was selected as best qualified during
10 design of the project, staff is recommending Leighton and Associates, Inc., as the best qualif

based on their experience and expertise on similar types of project; and I*
firm to perform the geotechnical services during the construction of the Faraday Avenue proj

13 WHEREAS, an agreement has been previously executed for $24,950; and
14 WHEREAS, additional work was required due to the nature of the soils encounter
15 during the rough grading; and
16 WHEREAS, total project cost estimated for the geotechnical services is $74,950; and
WHEREAS, additional funds in the amount of $46,270 are available; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the proposed Amendment No. 1
agreement for geotechnical services during the rough grading of Faraday Avenue with Leight,

2o 11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsb:

attached as Exhibit 6, is hereby approved.
