HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-10-03; City Council; Resolution 2000-305- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 a 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 ia 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 2000-305 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE CHRISTENSEN FUND FOR $85,000 AND APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS. WHEREAS, one of City Council’s goals is “to enhance the educational opportunities for all segments of the community...“; and WHEREAS, the Christensen Fund is a nonprofit foundation located in Palo Alto, California that supports education in the visual arts; and WHEREAS, The Christensen Fund grant will provide funds to offer hands-on arts projects related to gallery exhibits for school tours and will provide funds to place an artist in two (2) schools, one in the Carlsbad Unified School District and one in the Encinitas Union School District which serves Carlsbad students for 20 hours a week; and WHEREAS, the grant will also assist with paying tour guides to help with the increase in tours.; and WHEREAS, no new matching funds are required. The total amount of the grant is $85,000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as follows: 1. 2. 3. The above recitations are true and correct. The City Council accepts the Christensen Fund grant in the amount of $85,000. The City Council authorizes the Finance Director to appropriate $85,000 to the designated Special Revenue Account to be expended as stated above. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 3rd October day of ,2000, by the following vote, to wit: n AYES: Council Members Lewis NOES: None ABSENT: Council Member Hall *he% LWINE M.
