WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad recognizes the need for the installation of traffic signals It various intersections to promote the safe and efficient movement of people and goods; and WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad recognizes the need for an objective policy to determine vhen and where traffic signals will be installed in the future; and WHEREAS, maintaining an up-to-date qualification list of warranted traffic signals will lssist staff when reviewing future Capital Improvement Programs (CIP) or developer projects to letermine the need and schedule of the traffic signal installation; and WHEREAS, the 2002 Traffic Signal Evaluation Policy contains the 2002 Traffic Signal halification List. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, :alifornia, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. The City Council of the City of Carlsbad hereby adopts the evaluation procedures Ind the updated Traffic Signal Qualification List as contained in the 2002 Traffic Signal Evaluation 'olicy. The Engineering Department of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized to ,eriodically update the Traffic Signal Qualification List as contained in the Traffic Signal ivaluation Policy and present such updated list to the Traffic Safety Commission and the :ity Council for review and approval. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council leld on the 5th day of MARCH , 2002 by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Finnila, Nygaard, Hall n /- mE M.
