RESOLUTION NO. 2002-136
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE PLANS,
SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR
BIDS FOR THE DEMOLITION OF THE PINE SCHOOL BUILDINGS
AND THE STRUCTURES LOCATED AT 3354, 3366, 3340, 3344 AND 3348 MADISON STREET.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California has determined it necessary and
in the public interest to approve plans, specifications, and to authorize publishing an advertisement for
bids for the demolition of the Pine School buildings and several former residences on Madison Street
which are all under the ownership of the City of Carlsbad; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available in the Demolition Project Account # 320 7000
9060 38022 921; and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the Pine School and Madison Street Property
Demolition Project have been prepared by staff of the Engineering and Park Development Division and
by the Geotechnical and Environmental Sciences Consulting Firm of Ninyo and Morre; and
WHEREAS, those plans and specifications are incorporated herein by reference and are available
for review in the Engineering Department; and
WHEREAS, the demolition project is necessary in order to further the planning effort and allow
for the ultimate development of a community park for the Northwest Quadrant of the City,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as
follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the plans, specifications and construction documents for the project are on file with the
City’s Engineering Department.
3. That the plans, specifications and construction documents for the demolition of the Pine School
Buildings and the structures located at 3354, 3366, 3340, 3344, and 3348 Madison Street which
are on file with the City’s Engineering Department are hereby approved.

4. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish a notice to contractors inviting
bids in accordance with Section 3.28.080 of the Municipal Code.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council held
on the 7th day of MAY ,2002 by the following vote, to wit:
