HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-06-11; City Council; Resolution 2002-1731 2 3 4 5 6 5 e s la 11 12 13 14 15 16 15 18 1s 2c 21 22 23 24 25 2f 27 2f RESOLUTION NO. 2002-173 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TO FACILITATE THE AGUA HEDIONDA LAGOON CAULERPA CARLSBAD APPROVING THE INTERIM MANAGEMENT PLAN TAXlFOLlA ERADICATION PROGRAM The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, Caulerpa Taxifolia has been identified as a highly destructive marine alga which must be prevented from spreading along the southern California coastline; and WHEREAS, this species has been found in Agua Hedionda Lagoon in Carlsbad; and WHEREAS, a coalition of governmental agencies has been working to eradicate this species from the lagoon; and WHEREAS, a management plan would be beneficial in describing how continued public recreational use of Agua Hedionda Lagoon can continue without interfering with eradication work or increasing the risk of spread of the alga; and WHEREAS, an ad-hoc committee consisting of citizens and representatives of the involved agencies has prepared a draft plan for consideration by the City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad hereby approves the Interim Management Plan to facilitate the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Caulerpa Taxifolia Eradication Program. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
