RESOLUTION NO. 2002-293
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION OF
$77,120 FROM THE FRIENDS OF THE CARLSBAD
LIBRARY TO THE CARLSBAD CITY LIBRARY,
APPROPRIATING DONATION TO THE LIBRARY'S
FRIENDS DONATIONS FUND, AND ACKNOWLEDGING
PLEDGE OF $45,875 IN SUPPORT OF VARIOUS
LIBRARY PROGRAMS
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Carlsbad Library have donated $77,120 to
the library; and
WHEREAS, the library and the Friends have agreed that this donation
will be used to purchase adult and children's reference books, audio books, a
Storytime resource collection, a book return for Centro, a display case, a
computer printer for Adult Learning, and a piano, six folding tables, a projection
screen, programlstage lighting and a portable stage for the Cole Community
Room; and
WHEREAS, the Friends have pledged support of the Summer Reading
Program, various Children and Young Adult Programs, the Annual Multi-Cultural
Program and various author programs for FY2002-2003, at a value of $45,875.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council accepts the gift of $77,120 from the Friends
of the Library on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad, and hereby appropriates
these funds to the Library's Friends Donations Fund.

3. That the City Council acknowledges the additional pledge of
support from the Friends of the Library for $45,875 worth of library Programs.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting Of the City
Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 8th day of
OCTOBER , 2002, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Finnila, Nygaard, Ha
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
