RESOLUTION NO. 2003-041
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A $10,000 DONATION FROM THE DILLON FAMILY TRUST, SURVIVOR’S TRUST, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR THE TRUST TO RELEASE THE DONATED FUNDS, AND APPROPRIATING THE DONATED FUNDS TO THE LIBRARY’S BUDGET TO BE USED FOR THE LIBRARY’S GENEALOGICAL COLLECTION.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Ida May Dillon, upon her death on June 23, 2002, and
through the Dillon Family Trust, Survivor’s Trust, left the City of Carlsbad a gift of
$10,000 to be used for the Library’s Genealogical Collection.
WHEREAS, the Attorney for Trust has notified the City that the Trust is
prepared to make a distribution of the gift upon confirmation of the City’s
acceptance of the gift and the City ‘s execution of a waiver and receipt (Attachment
A).
WHEREAS, the Library’s Genealogical Collection is an important component
of the Library’s programs and services, and the donated funds will benefit the
Collection.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad resolves:
1. That the above recitations are true.
2. That the $10,000 gift from the Dillon Family Trust, Survivor’s Trust for
the Library’s Genealogical Collection is accepted.
3. That the Mayor is authorized to execute all documents necessary for
the Trust to release the donated funds, including the attached waiver
and receipt, once the documents are in a form approved by the City
Attorney.

4. That the donated funds are appropriated to the Library’s budget to be
used for the benefit of the Library’s Genealogical Collection.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Carlsbad, California on the day of February, 2003, by
the following vote:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Finnila, Kulchin, Hall and Packard.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTION: None.
