HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-05-04; City Council; Resolution 2004-1471 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 2004-147 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE JEFFERSON STREET SIDEWALK PROJECT, PROJECT NO. 3883 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determined it necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to construct new sidewalks and reconstruct existing sidewalks and associated improvements on segments of Jefferson Street between Magnolia Avenue and Citrus Place; and WHEREAS, the plans and specifications have been approved by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California on January 20, 2004 and are on file in the Engineering Department of the City of Carlsbad and are incorporated by reference herein; and WHEREAS, three (3) sealed bids were received on March 24, 2004, for the project; and WHEREAS, the lowest responsive, responsible bid for the project was submitted by TB Penick & Sons, Inc. in the amount of $430,590.31 ; and WHEREAS, said project was included in the 200212003 Capital Improvement Program; and WHEREAS, the General Capital Construction fund includes sufficient funds to construct this project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. 2. That the above recitations are true and correct. That the low bid submitted by TB Penick & Sons, Inc., in the amount of $430,590.31 is hereby accepted and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the contract on behalf of the City for the construction of the Jefferson Street Sidewalk Project. That the award of this contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the lowest responsive bid executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and insurance policies, as described in the contract, within twenty (20) days of adoption of this resolution. The City Manager may grant reasonable extensions of time.
