HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-02-15; City Council; Resolution 2005-043I 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 2005-043 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE EL CAMINO REAL TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS AT HOSP WAY, APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS. MARRON ROAD AND PLAZA DRIVE, PROJECT NO. 3899-1 AND WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determined it necessary, desirable and in the public interest to construct the El Camino Real Traffic Signal Improvements at Hosp Way, Marron Road and Plaza Drive; and WHEREAS, one (1) sealed bid was received on December 7, 2004 for the project; and WHEREAS, the lowest responsive, responsible bid for the project was submitted by HMS Construction, Inc., in the amount of $996,647.15; and WHEREAS, additional funds in the amount of $111,000 need to be appropriated in order to construct the El Camino Real Traffic Signal Improvements at Hosp Way, Marron Road and Plaza Drive, Project No. 3899-1 ; and WHEREAS, there are sufficient TransNet funds available for the additional appropriation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the low bid submitted by HMS Construction, Inc., in the amount of $996,647.15, is hereby accepted and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City for the construction of the El Camino Real Traffic Signal Improvements at Hosp Way, Marron Road and Plaza Drive. 3. That the Finance Director is hereby authorized to appropriate $1 11,000 from the Transnet Local Fund for completion of this project. 4. up to $149,497. That the award of this contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the lowest responsive bid executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and insurance oolicies, as described in the contract, within twenty (20) days of adoption of this resolution. The City Manager may grant reasonable extensions of time.
