HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-04-05; City Council; Resolution 2005-1021 2 3 4 5 6 7 a 9 10 11 12 13 14 I5 1E 17 le 1s 2c 21 22 2: 24 21 2E 27 2E EXHIBIT 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2005-1 02 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF 36 TRAFFIC SIGNAL BATTERY BACKUP SYSTEMS WHEREAS, City staff has identified the need to provide back up power for traffic signal systems; and WHEREAS, City staff has researched various traffic signal backup systems and determined that the best product available is the unit manufactured by the Clary Corporation; and WHEREAS, City staff has developed a schedule that would provide for the purchase and installation of backup units at each signalized intersection over a six-year period; and WHEREAS, City staff is now ready to move ahead with the purchase and installation of 36 additional backup units at an estimated cost of $288,000 and WHEREAS, funds in the amount of $120,000 are available for this project in the Traffic Signal Maintenance Capital Outlay budget; and WHEREAS, additional funds in the amount of $168,000 need to be appropriated to fully fund this portion of the project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the plans, specifications and cost estimates submitted by Engineering and Street Maintenance for the purchase and installation of 36 traffic signal battery backup systems are hereby adopted. That the Finance Director is authorized to make an additional appropriation in the amount of $168,000 from the General Fund Reserves to the Traffic Signal Maintenance Operating Budget.
