HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-05-03; City Council; Resolution 2005-1391 2 3 4 5 6 7 a 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 la 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 -f.3.csrr317 a RESOLUTiON NO. 2005-1 39 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CARLSBAD BOULEVARD LEFT-TURN LANE AT BREAKWATER ROAD, PROJECT NO. 3947-1 AND APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determined it necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to construct the Carlsbad Boulevard Left-Turn Lane at Breakwater Road; and WHEREAS, five (5) sealed bids were received on March 29, 2005 for the project; and WHEREAS, the lowest responsive, responsible bid for the project was submitted by GIM General General Engineering in the amount of $180,954; and WHEREAS, there are sufficient South Carlsbad Coastal Redevelopment Area tax funds for the additional appropriation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. 2. That the low bid submitted by GIM General Engineering, in the amount of $180,954, is hereby accepted and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract on behalf Df the City for the construction of the Carlsbad Boulevard Left-Turn Lane at Breakwater Road. That the Finance Director is hereby authorized to appropriate $88,150 from the South Carlsbad Coastal Redevelopment Area tax fund for completion of the project. 4. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change orders up to $27,143. 5. That the award of this contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the lowest responsive bid, executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and insurance policies as described in the contract, within twenty (20) days of adoption of this resolution. The City Manager may grant reasonable extensions of time.
