HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-05-10; City Council; Resolution 2005-1501 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 2005-150 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING STAFF TO CONDUCT AN ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF ATTENDANCE, BEACH SPENDING, AND THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF BEACH TOURISM IN CARLSBAD. WHEREAS, the beaches adjacent to the City of Carlsbad attract visitors from all parts of the globe; and WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Beach Preservation Committee is interested in conducting a study of the economic impact the beaches have on the City; and WHEREAS, at the Carlsbad Beach Preservation Committee meeting of February 8, 2005, the Committee unanimously recommended the City Council authorize staff to conduct an economic analysis, estimate the beach attendance numbers, and provide a report on the economic impact of beach tourism to the City; and WHEREAS, the City Council determines it is the interest of the public to prepare said analysis. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the City Council authorizes staff to conduct an economic analysis of attendance, beach spending, and the economic impact of beach tourism in Carlsbad. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council held on the loth day of May , 2005 by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Council Members Hall, Kulchin, Packard, Sigafoose NOES: None ABSENT: Council Member Lewis CLAUDE A.
