RESOLUTION NO. 2005-232
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION OF
$31,900 AND A PLEDGE OF $29,100 FROM THE FRIENDS
OF THE CARLSBAD LIBRARY TO THE CARLSBAD CITY
LIBRARY, APPROPRIATING THE FUNDS TO THE
LIBRARY’S FRIENDS DONATIONS FUND, AND
ACKNOWLEDGING A PLEDGE OF AN ADDITIONAL
$57,850 FOR SUPPORT OF VARIOUS LIBRARY
PROGRAMS.
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Carlsbad Library have donated $31,900
and pledged another $29,100 to the Carlsbad City Library; and
WHEREAS, the Library and the Friends have agreed that this donation
will be used for additions to the Collection as well as various other equipment
and furnishings as set forth in the agenda bill; and
WHEREAS, the Friends have pledged additional financial support in the
amount of $57,850 for the Summer Reading Program, various Children and
Young Adult Programs including the Annual Multi-Cultural Program and
Children’s Author Festival, and the annual Library Info Fair for Educators
(L.I.F.E.) for FY2005-2006.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:

That the above recitations are true and correct.
That the City Council accepts the gifts of $31,900 and $29,100
from the Friends of the Library on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad, and hereby
appropriates these funds to the Library’s Friends Donations Fund.

3. That the City Council acknowledges the additional pledge of
support from the Friends of the Library for $57,850 to support library programs.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 26th day of
JULY , 2005 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Hall, Kulchin, Packard, Sigafoose
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
