SIGNAL BATTERY BACKUP SYSTEMS.

WHEREAS, the City staff has identified the need to provide backup power for traffic signal

systems; and
WHEREAS, City staff has researched various traffic signal backup systems and
8 determined desired specifications for battery backup systems for traffic signal operation; and

RESOLUTION NO. 2006-094
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR
BIDS FOR PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF 15 TRAFFIC
WHEREAS, City staff has developed a schedule that would provide for the purchase and
installation of backup units at each signalized intersection over a six-year period; and
WHEREAS, City staff is now ready to move ahead with the purchase and installation of 15
additional backup units at an estimated cost of $120,000; and
WHEREAS, funds in the amount of $120,000 are available for this project in the GeneralI O
Fund Traffic Signal Maintenance Capital Outlay budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,

California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the plans, specifications and cost estimates submitted by Engineering and Street
Maintenance for the purchase and installation of 15 traffic signal battery backup systems are
hereby adopted.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council
held on the 18th day of April , 20C6 by the following vote, to
wit:
