HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-11-09; City Council; Resolution 2007-285i b/4- RESOLUTION NO. 2°°7-285 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION A OF THE CALLE GAVANZO DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS AND APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS, PROJECT NO. 6605, , BID NO. PWS08-06ENG. 3 6 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determined it necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to construct drainage improvements and pavement repairs on Calle Gavanzo; and Q0 WHEREAS, the project is categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality 9 Act pursuant to CEQA Section 1 5303(d) and 1 5304(f); and 10 WHEREAS, eleven (11) sealed bids were received on September 18, 2007 by the City of Carlsbad for the construction of said project; and11 WHEREAS, the lowest responsive, responsible bid was submitted by Don Hubbard 12 Contracting Company in the amount of $55,555; and 13 WHEREAS, additional Gas Tax Funds need to be appropriated in the amount of 14 $12, 531; and WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available in the Gas Tax Fund to complete the15 project. ifi NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 18 1 • That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the bid in the amount of $51,555 submitted by Don Hubbard Contracting Company, for the construction of Calle Gavanzo Drainage Improvements, Project No. 6605, is 20 accepted and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Don Hubbard Contracting Company. 22 3. That the Finance Director is hereby authorized to appropriate an additional $1 2,531 from the Gas Tax Fund for the project. 4. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change24 orders up to $7,750. 5. That the award of this contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the 26 lowest responsible bid executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and 27 insurance policies, as described in the contract, within twenty (20) days of adoption of this resolution. The City Manager may grant reasonable extensions of time.
