RESOLUTION NO. 2008-076

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE BIDS
4 FOR UPPER & LOWER FARADAY SEWER LIFT STATION
REMOVAL AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS. PROJECT NO. 5505

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, desires to remove the
6
existing sewage lift stations along Faraday Avenue that are not currently being utilized in
7
conformance with the Sewer Master Plan; and
8
WHEREAS, the plans and specifications for furnishing of all labor, materials, tools,
9
equipment, transportation, and other expenses necessary or incidental to the Upper and Lower
10
Faraday Sewer Lift Station Removal, Project No. 5505, have been prepared and are on file in the
11
Public Works-Engineering Department of the City of Carlsbad and are incorporated herein by
12
reference; and

WHEREAS, a Mitigated Negative Declaration and Mitigation Monitoring Program was
14 prepared for the Cannon Road Lift Station Project and adopted by the Planning Commission on
15 February 19, 2003 (Planning Commission Resolution No. 5343).

WHEREAS, this project is a Class 1 categorical exemption (Existing Facilities) and is
17
therefore exempt from environmental review pursuant to Section 15301 of the California
18
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

WHEREAS, funds in the Sewer Replacement Fund are sufficient for the project; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation in the amount of $89,000 is needed for completion of the
Project.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,

California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the plans, specifications, and contract documents for the Upper and Lower
26
Faraday Sewer Lift Station Removal, Project No. 5505, are on file in the Public Works-Engineering
27
Department of the City of Carlsbad and are hereby approved.

1 3. That the Finance Director is authorized to appropriate $89,000 from the Sewer
2 Replacement Fund to cover the cost of the Upper and Lower Faraday Sewer Lift Station Removal,
3 Project No. 5505.
4 4. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to
5 publish, in accordance with state law, a Notice to Contractors Inviting Bids for the construction of
6 the Upper and Lower Faraday Sewer Lift Station Removal, Project No. 5505, in accordance with
7 the plans, specifications, and contract documents referred to herein.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the 18th day of March, 2008, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Hall, Packard and Nygaard.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
