RESOLUTION NO. 2008-293

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZATION OF
APPLICATIONS FOR THE CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE
4 MANAGEMENT BOARD GRANT PROGRAMS.

WHEREAS, grant funding is available to cities and counties from the California
6
Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) to encourage the reduction of landfill disposal
7
and stockpiling of California waste tires; and
WHEREAS, it is in the City's best interest to apply for these grants to help fund the City's
Pavement Management Program; and
10 WHEREAS, the CIWMB Grant Programs require that grant applications be approved by
11 the City Council and signature authority be appointed by City Council resolution.
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
13 California, as follows:
... 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council authorizes grant applications to CIWMB for three grant15
programs which encourage recycling of California waste tires, for a period of five years from the
date of adoption.
3. The Public Works Director, or his designee, is hereby appointed as the signature1 o
authority for all grant documents for a period of five years from the date of adoption.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the 21st day of October, 2008, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Hall, Packard and Nygaard.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
