RESOLUTION NO. 2009-079

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING OPERATING AND
CONSTRUCTION OPTIONS FOR THE ALGA NORTE COMMUNITY
4 PARK AND AQUATIC CENTER, PROJECT NOS. 3837 AND 3925.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determined it
6 necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to construct Alga Norte Community Park,
7 Project Nos. 3837 and 3925; and
8 WHEREAS, Alga Norte Community Park is necessary to comply with the City's Growth
g Management Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Recreational Component of the Alga Norte Community Park Aquatic
Center, which include wet play structures, slides, and a moving river, are being deferred and were

removed from the current plans and specifications; and
12 WHEREAS, operating options have been considered for the aquatic center; and
13 WHEREAS, construction options have been considered for the development of the
14 project; and
15 WHEREAS, funding for said project has been appropriated from PFF and GCC Funds in
the 2008/2009 Capital Improvement Program in the amount of $50,423,000 to cover all project

costs; and

18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
19 California, as follows:
20 1 • That the above recitations are true and correct.
(Note: Two separate votes were taken regarding the operating and construction
options).

2. That the operating options have been considered and the City Council directs staff to
23 pursue options 1 and 2 as shown in Agenda Bill 19,780.
24 AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Hall, Packard and Blackburn.
25 NOES: None.
26 ABSENT: None.

3. That the construction options have been considered and the City Council directs staff to
pursue option 3 as shown in Agenda Bill 19,780.
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Hall and Packard.
NOES: Council Members Kulchin and Blackburn.
ABSENT: None.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad on the 21st day of April. 2009.
