2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION
3 FROM GEMOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF AMERICA TO THE
4 CARLSBAD CITYSTUFF PROGRAM.

6 WHEREAS, Gemological Institute of American has made a generous contribution
7 of in-kind services valued at $17,640 to the Carlsbad CityStuff program for the printing
8 costs for the "Fast Facts 101" books to be used by the students participating in the
9
CityStuff program.

WHEREAS, Carlsbad third-graders will learn a great deal about government and
12
the issues important to governing at a local level; and

15 WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad wishes to accept the donation to the Carlsbad
16 CityStuff program.

18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of

Carlsbad, California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the City Council accepts the donation from Gemological Institute of
America on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the 12th day of May, 2009, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Hall and Blackburn.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Council Member Packard.
