2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
3 MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE, IN THE NAME
4 OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, ALL NECESSARY FORMS
FOR THE PURPOSE OF APPLYING FOR GRANT
5 FUNDING FROM THE SAN DIEGO POLICE
FOUNDATION, TO ENHANCE DISASTER
6 PREPAREDNESS EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

8 WHEREAS, the San Diego Police Foundation is accepting applications for their
9
Disaster Education and Preparedness Program for Local Fire and Law Enforcement
10 Agencies; and
11
WHEREAS, the goal of this competitive grant is to increase citizen awareness of
12
and planning for natural and manmade threats to our region; and
14 WHEREAS, it is the desire of Carlsbad Fire Department to participate in this
15 program to help enhance awareness and preparedness;
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
17 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
18 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That Council authorizes the submittal of this grant application.

3. That the City Manager or designee is authorized to execute, in the name of
21
the City of Carlsbad, all necessary forms for the purpose of applying for grant
23 funding from the San Diego Police Foundation to enhance disaster
24 preparedness education programs.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the 9- day of June. 2009, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Hall, Packard and Blackburn.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
