ACCEPTING THE GRANT FUNDS.

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING ENERGY EFFICIENCY
AND CONSERVATION BLOCK GRANT FUNDS FROM THE US
DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY TO PARTIALLY FUND THE
STREETLIGHT RELAMPING PROJECT, AND AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO SIGN DOCUMENTS
WHEREAS, the City Council Authorized Staff to apply for Federal Energy Efficiency and
Conservation Block Grant funds to offset the cost of replacing street lights; and
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad received an award of $938,900 from the U.S.
Department of Energy for the express purpose of the street light retrofit and replacement project;
and
WHEREAS, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funds are part of the
total funding package for this project; and
14 WHEREAS, The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funds are
one time funds, which require no matching funds.
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
17 California, as follows:
18 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. The City Manager or City Manager's designee is authorized to execute any and
20
all documents related to the EECBG and the City of Carlsbad.
21
3. The Finance Director is authorized to appropriate the EECBG grant in the
22
amount of $938,900 for the purpose of the Street Light Retrofit Project.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the 22nd day of September. 2009, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Hall, Packard and Blackburn
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
