2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE
3 PURCHASE AND MAINTENANCE, PURSUANT TO THE
4 CALIFORNIA MULTIPLE AWARD SCHEDULES
CONTRACT, OF CISCO NETWORK SWITCHES

WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad has determined the need to replace the network
6
switches at the Faraday data center and connecting sites; and
7
WHEREAS, the purchase of the network switches will be done through a
o
9 California Multiple Award Schedules (CMAS) contract vendor; and
10 WHEREAS, NexusIS is an authorized CMAS contract vendor and an authorized
11 Cisco equipment reseller; and
12 WHEREAS, after careful review and evaluation, the Information Technology
13 department recommends NexusIS for the purchase and installation of network switches;
14 and
WHEREAS, the manufacturer, Cisco Systems, Inc. will provide maintenance and
16
support of the Network switches after successful installation by City staff and NexusIS;
17
and
18
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
2Q Carlsbad, California, as follows:
21 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
22 2. That the purchase of Cisco network switches, pursuant to California
23 Multiple Award Schedules contract #3-03-70-10638 with NexusIS, is
24 hereby approved and the City Manager is authorized to execute all
25
required documents on behalf of the City.

3. That the purchase of network switches from NexusIS and first year
28 maintenance and support with Cisco Systems, Inc. shall not exceed

$247,995 for equipment and $29,800 for services as further described in
the pricing per CMAS #3-03-70-10638 quote for the City of Carlsbad by
NexuslS.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the 23rd day of Marcb ,
2010 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Member? Lewis, Kulcbin, Hall, Packard and Blackburn.
NOES: None.
