HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-04-06; City Council; Resolution 2010-0631 RESOLUTION NO. 2010-063 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING 3 THE CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PALOMAR AIRPORT ROAD RIGHT TURN LANE TO MELROSE DRIVE, 4 PROJECT NO. 6012. 5 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determined it 6 necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to construct the right turn lane from eastbound 7 Palomar Airport Road to southbound Melrose Drive; and 8 WHEREAS, on December 22, 2009, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, through 9 Resolution No. 2009-319, approved the plans and specifications for furnishing of all labor, 10 materials, tools, equipment, transportation, and other expenses necessary or incidental to the11 construction of the Palomar Airport Road Right Turn Lane to Melrose Drive.; and WHEREAS, nineteen (19) sealed bids were received on February 9, 2010, by the City I O for the construction of said project; and14 WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bid to construct said project was15 submitted by PAL General Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $137,372; and16 WHEREAS, funding for said project has been appropriated from the Community Facilities District #3 and the Traffic Impact Fee ("TIF") Funds to cover all project costs and is18 sufficient. 2Q NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, 21 California, as follows: 22 1 • That the above recitations are true and correct. 23 2. That the bid amount of $137,372 submitted by PAL General Engineering, Inc. is 24 hereby accepted and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract with PAL General 25 Engineering, Inc. for the construction of Palomar Airport Road Right Turn Lane to Melrose Drive, 2Q Project No. 6012, in accordance with plans, specifications, and contract documents referred to 27 herein. 28 5" 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change orders up to $27,474 for Project No. 6012. 4. That payment of prevailing wages will not be required as part of the construction contract per City of Carlsbad Municipal Code Section 3.28.130. 5. That the award of contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the lowest responsive bid executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and insurance policies, as described in the contract, within twenty (20) days of adoption of this resolution.
