A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING REVISIONS TO
THE CITY'S RECORDS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM4
WHEREAS, section 34090 of the California Government code and the State of

California provides legal requirements relating to the retention and disposition of
7
municipal records; and
8
WHEREAS, other state and federal codes also provide legal requirements for the
management of municipal records; and
WHEREAS, the Records Management Program utilizes various manuals, guides
12 and a record retention schedule to organize the maintenance, retention and disposition
13 of City records in accordance with legal retention requirements and the City's
operational needs;
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of

Carlsbad, California, as follows:

1. The above recitations are true and correct;

2. That the Program's revised 2011 Record Retention Schedule is hereby adopted;
20 3. That the Records Management Department is hereby designated as the
Custodian of the Program and as such shall be responsible for the
21 implementation of the Program and the safekeeping of the City's records;
22 4. That the Records Management Program and Record Retention Schedule be
23 reviewed periodically and any Schedule modifications or Program changes be
presented to the City Council to ensure the efficient operation of the Program.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the 21st day of June 2011, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Hall, Kulchin, Blackburn, Douglas, Packard.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
