HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-07-26; City Council; Resolution 2011-1751 RESOLUTION NO. 2011-175 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Q CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND6 AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE CORRUGATED METAL PIPE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM - 4 HOLLY BRAE LANE/EL CAMINO REAL, HIGHLAND DRIVE/JAMES DRIVE AND MALLORCA PLACE, PROJECT 5 NO. 6607. 6 WHEREAS, on May 10, 2011, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad approved plans 7 for construction of the Corrugated Metal Pipe Replacement Program - Holly Brae Lane/El Camino 8 Real, Highland Drive/James Drive and Mallorca Place, Project No. 6607; and 9 WHEREAS, three (3) sealed bids were received on June 21, 2011 by the City of 10 Carlsbad for the construction of said project; and 11 WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bid to construct said project was 12 submitted by New Century Construction, Inc., in the amount of $151,615; and 13 WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available to complete the project; and 14 WHEREAS, subsection 3.28.040(C)(5) of the Carlsbad Municipal Code authorizes the 15 City Manager to approve change orders in the amount equal to the contingency set at the time of 16 project award. 17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, 18 California, as follows: 1Q 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. on 3. That the low bid of $151,615 submitted by New Century Construction, for the 21 construction of the Corrugated Metal Pipe Replacement Program - Holly Brae Lane/El Camino 22 Real, Highland Drive/James Drive and Mallorca Place, Project No. 6607, is accepted and the 23 Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract with New Century Construction, Inc. for the 24 Corrugated Metal Pipe Replacement Program - Holly Brae Lane/El Camino Real, Highland 25 Drive/James Drive and Mallorca Place, Project No. 6607. OC 4. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change 27 orders up to $30,000. r . 28 / 1 5. That the award of this contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the 2 lowest responsible bid executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and 3 insurance policies, as described in the contract, within twenty (20) days of adoption of this 4 resolution.
