2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
3 MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE, IN THE NAME
4 OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD POLICE DEPARTMENT,
ALL NECESSARY FORMS FOR THE PURPOSE OF
5 APPLYING FOR GRANT FUNDING FROM THE
CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY, TO
6 CONDUCT TWO SOBRIETY CHECKPOINTS.

8 WHEREAS, the California Office of Traffic Safety is accepting applications for
9
their Sobriety Checkpoint Mini-Grant Program for Local Law Enforcement Agencies;
10
and
11
WHEREAS, the goal of this competitive grant is to reduce the number of people
12
killed statewide in alcohol-related crashes; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of City of Carlsbad Police Department to participate in
15 this program to help reduce drunk driving locally;
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
17 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1 8 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
19 2. That Council authorizes the submittal of this grant application.

3. That the City Manager or designee is authorized to execute, in the name of
21
the City of Carlsbad Police Department, all necessary forms for the purpose
of applying for grant funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety to
24 conduct two sobriety checkpoints.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the 27th day of September 2011, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Hall, Kulchin, Blackburn, Douglas, Packard.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
