HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-01-10; City Council; Resolution 2012-0071 RESOLUTION NO. 2012-007 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AWARDING A 3 CONTRACT FOR THE NORTHWEST QUADRANT STORM DRAIN IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM, CONCRETE REPAIR 4 WORK, AND PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM, PROJECT NOS. 6608, 6021, and 6001. 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 Manager to approve change orders in the amount equal to the contingency set at the time of .|g project award. 2Q NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cartsbad, 2^ California, as follows: 22 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 23 2. That the low bid of $396,998.00 submitted by Burtech Pipeline, Inc., for the 24 construction of the Northwest Quadrant Storm Drain Improvement Program, Concrete Repair 25 Work, and Pavement Management Program, Project Nos. 6608, 6021, and 6001, is accepted and 26 the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Burtech Pipeline, Inc. for the Northwest WHEREAS, on May 10, 2011, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, through Resolution No. 2011-086, has previously approved the plans and authorized to advertize for bids to construct the Northwest Quadrant Storm Drain Improvement Program, Concrete Repair Work, and Pavement Management Program, Project Nos. 6608, 6021, and 6001; and WHEREAS, seven (7) sealed bids were received on December 14, 2011, by the City of Cartsbad for the construction of said project; and WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Burtech Pipeline Company, Inc in the amount of $396,998; and WHEREAS, funding for said project has been appropriated from the General Capital Construction Fund, Gas Tax Fund and TransNet Fund to cover all project costs and is sufficient; and WHEREAS, Section 3,28.040 (c)(5) of the Carlsbad Municipal Code authorizes the City 27 28 1 1 Quadrant Storm Drain Improvement Program, Concrete Repair Work, and Pavement 2 Management Program, Project Nos. 6608, 6021, and 6001. 3 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change 4 orders up to $95,000. ^ 4. That the award of this contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the ^ lowest responsible bid executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and insurance policies, as described in the contract, within twenty (20) days of adoption of this resolution.
