CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE CONTRACT FOR

WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad is responsible to provide for the safe collection,
transport, and disposal of solid waste, including designated recyclables, to ensure the safety,
health and general welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad may contract for said services; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends approving the contract for the provision of solid waste
services between Coast Waste Management, Inc. and the City of Carlsbad.
WHEREAS, City and Contractor currently have a Solid Waste Services Agreement
dated November 4,1997 and it is the intention of the parties to rescind it
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the Mayor of the City of Carlsbad is authorized and directed to execute a
contract with Coast Waste Management, Inc. for the provision of solid waste services, a copy of
\|vhich is attached (Exhibit "3"), for and on behalf of the City of Carlsbad
3. That the Solid Waste Services Agreement dated November 4, 1997 is rescinded
when the new contract commences on July 1, 2012.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the Uth day of February 2012, by the following vote to wit:
AYES;
NOES:
Council Members Hall, Kulchin, Blackburn. Douglas, Packard.
None.
ABSENT: None.
