HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-03-13; City Council; Resolution 2012-05210 14 15 16 17 18 23 24 25 26 27 28 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2012-052 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE FUNDING ^ RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE COMMUNITY ACTIVITY 4 GRANT CITIZEN REVIEW COMMITTEE AND APPROVING DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS TO THE IDENTIFIED 5 ORGANIZATIONS. 6 .. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, appointed a 7 seven-member Citizen Review Committee to review Community Activity Grant g applications and to make funding recommendations; and, WHEREAS, the Citizen Review Committee has recommended six (6) 11 organizations and the associated funding amounts, as set forth in Exhibit 3 and 12 attached for reference purposes. 1^ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows that: 1. The above recitations are true and correct. 2. Operation School Bell, two (2) specific programs: enables 350 students to go school shopping, 10 scholarships for 6th grade camp. $ 5,000.00 $ 7,000.00 $ 5,000.00 2 7,000.00 3 BLUE Lighting To establish a program for residents to exchange their less efficient, existing light bulbs for more enerev efficient products. 50,000.00 Carlsbad Community To establish a program, comprised of workshops to $ Gardens Collaborative educate and inform residents on sustainable gardening practices and landscaping techniques. 7,820.00 Carlsbad Educational Foundation Expand the Kids' Care LEGO robotics (hands-on science enrichment) program. 5,000.00 5,000.00 4 Carlsbad Explorer Post Benefit the Explorers Program (Police) with $ 10,000.00 $ 781, Inc. Carlsbad Sister Cities Ambassadors funding for Academy costs, uniforms, equipment, grouD van. and liabitv insurance. Seed money to create the "Winter Classic".
