RESOLUTION NO. 2012-088
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE, IN THE NAME
OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD POLICE DEPARTMENT,
ALL NECESSARY FORMS FOR THE PURPOSE OF
APPLYING FOR GRANT FUNDING FROM THE
CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY, TO
CONDUCT TWO SOBRIETY CHECKPOINTS.
WHEREAS, the California Office of Traffic Safety is accepting applications for
their Sobriety Checkpoint Grant Program for Local Law Enforcement Agencies; and
WHEREAS, the goal of this competitive grant is to reduce the number of people
killed statewide in alcohol-related crashes; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of City of Carisbad Police Department to participate in
this program to help reduce drunk driving locally;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That Council authorizes the submittal of this grant application.
3. That the City Manager or designee is authorized to execute, in the name of
the City of Carisbad Police Department, all necessary forms for the purpose
of applying for grant funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety to
conduct two sobriety checkpoints.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carisbad on the 24**^ day of April, 2012, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Hall, Kulchin, Blackburn and Packard.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Council Member Douglas.
