HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-05-22; City Council; Resolution 2012-1171 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 RESOLUTION NO. 2012-117 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AWARDING A 3 CONTRACT FOR THE CORRUGATED METAL PIPE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM - WASHINGTON STREET, 4 BADAJOZ PLACE, ELMWOOD STREET AND LA COSTA AVENUE STORM DRAIN REPLACEMENT PROGRAM, 5 PROJECT NO'S. 6607 AND 6602. WHEREAS, on January 10, 2012, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, through Resolution No. 2012-004, has previously approved the plans and authorized to advertise for bids to construct the Corrugated Metal Pipe Replacement Program - Washington Street, Badajoz Place, Elmwood Street and La Costa Avenue Storm Drain Replacement Program, Project No's. 6607 and 6602; and WHEREAS, seven (7) sealed bids were received on March 27, 2012, by the City of Carlsbad for the construction of said project; and WHEREAS, the lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Superior Gunite in the amount of $168,470; and WHEREAS, funding for said project has been appropriated from the Infrastructure Replacement Fund to cover all project costs and is sufficient; and WHEREAS, Section 3.28.040 (c)(5) of the Carisbad Municipal Code authorizes the City I o .jg Manager to approve change orders in the amount equal to the contingency set at the time of 20 project award. 21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carisbad, 22 23 24 2. That the low bid of $168,470 submitted by Superior Gunite, for the construction 25 of the Corrugated Metal Pipe Replacement Program - Washington Street, Badajoz Place, 2g Elmwood Street and La Costa Avenue Storm Drain Replacement Program, Project No's. 6607 27 and 6602 is accepted. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change 2 orders up to $35,000. 3 4. That the award of this contract is contingent upon the bidder submitting the 4 lowest responsible bid executing the required contract and submitting the required bonds and ^ insurance policies, as described in the contract, within twenty (20) days of adoption of this resolution.
